Introducing Bavette, a welcoming neighborhood bistro rooted in warm hospitality and a menu shaped by seasonal ingredients and timeless French technique. Set in the Leeds suburb of Horsforth, the restaurant reflects the partnership of Leeds-born chef Sandy Jarvis and French restaurateur Clément Cousin, who first crossed paths in London’s leading kitchens. Cousin leads the lively, personable service, while Jarvis crafts classic French dishes—from oeuf en meurette to Paris-Brest—with a confident, traditional touch. After leaving their London roles, the duo opened Bavette in 2024, bringing their shared vision to a more intimate setting. The space, formerly a Pizza Express, draws inspiration from iconic London bistros like Racine and Terroirs, offering relaxed dining alongside thoughtfully executed staples such as steak tartare, twice-baked crab soufflé, and bavette with frites. The wine program highlights bottles from Cousin’s family estate in the Loire Valley, where five generations have produced organic and biodynamic wines, including a standout Cabernet Franc cuvée. Inside, the design is understated yet polished, with wood floors, green walls, banquette seating, and gilt mirrors creating an effortlessly classic atmosphere.
